A person who is an adult can be described as a human or other animal that is at the full growth.The biological definition of the word means the animal has reached sexual maturity, and therefore capable of reproduction. Adult is a term used in the context of humans to mean the legal and social aspects. Legal adults are those who attains the age of adulthood and is considered to be independent, self sufficient, and responsible. The word "major" can be applied to them. It is generally accepted that the age at which a person becomes a legal adult is 18. However, this can differ based on the legal rights and country and also on the psychological state.

The stage of development for humans that is when physical and mental maturity is attained. The term "adulthood" is generally believed to start around age 20 or 21 years. It is around 60 years after middle years. The adulthood process is split into three distinct stages: early adulthood (18-mid-30s) between mid-30s and the mid-60s and late adulthood mid-60s until end of life. Physical maturation has been completed when we enter our early adulthood years (20-40s), although height and weight might increase slightly. As we grow older, we are at the highest level of physical capabilities.
